Can You Customize Your Watch Strap To Match Your Personal Style?

When it comes to your watch strap, things can feel a little generic at times, but is there a way to customise your strap to match your style? I guess there is, but there isn’t at the same time.

You can certainly replaced the strap and use something that you think works better, and while that may seem limited, it really isn’t, there is a seemingly endless amount of straps you can get, so there should always be something that suits you.

You Can’t Buy A Customised A Watch Strap

When it comes to buying a personalised watch strap, I am not aware of any widely available options to do this.

I will assume that there is someone, somewhere who will provide this service, but it is going to be very niche, and I would also assume very expensive, but it’s not impossible …it’s just unlikely for most of us to use such a service.

It will depend on what material you want your strap made from, and what exactly you want done to it to make it customised, but I imagine you can have anything you want made. The strap will be made to order, so I can’t imagine this being cheap.

I think for the vast majority of us, this not a service we need or can even find. I would suggest buying a different strap is going to be best option for us if we want to change the look of things.

You Can Buy A New Strap And Put This On Your Watch

While you may not be able to buy a customised strap …you can certainly buy a wide range of straps that you can pair with your watch.

I would question why you even need a strap customised? There are so many different types of strap on the market that there is always going to be something that suits your watch, suits your style and more importantly, fits your budget.

Even if you want a black leather strap for your watch, there must be 500 different options you could pick, probably more. The type of leather, the thickness, the colour, the texture, the stitching and even the colour of the stitching can all be slightly different.

If you can imagine it, it probably already exists somewhere already, the spectrum of available straps really is that wide.

You Could Customise Your Own Strap

Just because you can’t buy a customised strap, doesn’t mean you can’t do it yourself.

What you can do is of course going to depend on your skills and also what material you are using, but you could do all sorts of things to a strap to make it unique and customised to you.

I have no real idea what is possible or not, but I assume there is some sort of paint you could use and style up the strap to suit your needs.

Personally I think this would look awful, but I know someone out there could do this to a good standard and actually pull it off successfully. Really if you have any experience in the fashion industry, or working with fabric you are probably going to do a better job at customising your own strap.

Straps Can Be Easily Swapped

You also need to remember that straps can be easily changed and you can do it as often as you want to get the style you need.

Some straps can be changed extremely quickly and easily, while others may need a few tools, but even this whole process is pretty quick and easy, especially after you have done it a few times.

The fact that straps are interchangeable means you can always end up with exactly what you want.

As I have already mentioned, there are pretty much an unlimited amount of straps you can buy, and being able to swap them easily means you really don’t need to have a customised strap made for you.

You can just buy what you like and swap it over and customise the watch like that, it’s so much easier and cheaper and just as effective.

Kevin O’Leary Does This With His Watches

If you don’t know who Kevin O’Leary is, he is a watch collector, but is also on Shark Tank. He loves watches and his style is to always try and wear a watch on a red strap.

He has some well known luxury watches and he likes to wear them on red straps. Perhaps some of these straps are custom made for him, but my understanding is that he just buys various red straps and then pairs them with the watches he has.

If this can work for him and his style goals, then there is no reason why this approach cannot work for you and your watches.

Just buy some different straps that you like and start trying them with your watches.

Conclusion

Hopefully now you can see that getting a watch strap customised isn’t really an option and if you want something that suits your style more, you just need to buy some different straps and swap the one you have.

There are so many different straps you can buy that you are always going to be able to find a colour, material and style that suits exactly what you want.
